House Captain Elections 2021

    Each Friday, as part of our community time, we have had the return of our House Meetings which have involved our youngest children in Pre-Nursery to our eldest children in Year 9. These meetings are a chance for pupils to get to know each other better, build team spirit and discuss events that are due to take place. We hope to encourage students to take leadership roles in these meetings and throughout the House system by becoming House Captains. 

    Our initial House Meetings discussed the role of the House Captain and what characteristics they should have. Some of the ideas shared included that they should be ‘caring’, ‘responsible’, ‘approachable’ and ‘helpful’. Students in Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 then had the opportunity to nominate themselves to become House Captains, a Primary and Secondary House Captain for each house. 

     Once these students had introduced themselves, it was then time for the campaigns to begin. Pupils made and put up posters around school to encourage others to vote for them. They also spoke to their peers around school to let them know why they would be a great House Captain. In their House Meeting, nominees then had to give a speech to explain why they should be the House Captain. The whole school then voted for their House Captain. The votes were counted and, after a tense weekend, the winners were announced. 

     A huge well to all the students who had the courage to nominate themselves and congratulations to our winners. Now the hard work begins!
