Art
In the subject of Art and Design, lessons for all age groups are designed to develop creativity and imagination. They aim to give students a wide range of experiences, competence and confidence in a variety of media, tools and techniques. Pupils explore visual, tactile and other sensory experiences to communicate ideas and meanings. An awareness of colour, shape, balance, focus and proportion are developed alongside the basic drawing and painting skills.
Students study a wide range of artists, craftspeople and designers from the past right up to the present day. They learn to appreciate and value images and artefacts across times and cultures. They use studied ideas and techniques to influence and inspire their own future work. Pupils learn to think and act as artists and reflect critically on their own and other people's work.
Excellent work is regularly celebrated and displayed throughout the school to promote and encourage others. It also acts as an inspiring and enriching environment for our school where an appreciation of art, craft and design is encouraged.
