I have been teaching English since 2012 - for the first four years, I taught in my home country, South Africa, where I conducted my Masters research into strategies for improving literacy levels in underprivileged schools. My first international teaching role was in Indonesia, where I taught the IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) and IB (International Baccalaureate) curriculum for five years, specialising in English Language and Literature. I have also worked as a teacher in Ukraine, and taught online for a school in China. Throughout my teaching career I have also been involved in school drama clubs and both large- and small-scale school theatrical productions. When I am at home, I relax with old-fashioned pastimes like reading, baking, and sewing. I am also especially fond of animals and the outdoors. I have a cat and a dog back home in South Africa, and I enjoy taking my dog camping and hiking when I am there. I am a keen horse rider and enjoy practising various riding disciplines or just riding in nature. I love travelling, and South America is an entirely new continent for me, so I am very excited about experiencing the natural beauty and exciting culture of Brazil, as well as the surrounding countries.
