Prior to entering the Primary teaching profession, I worked for over several years as an English teacher, which provided me with the opportunity to live abroad and experience diverse cultures. From this experience, I then knew which career I wanted and decided to become a Primary school teacher. I enroled at Cardiff Metropolitan University to complete my PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate of Education), spending one term with a Year 1 class and the subsequent term with a Year 5 class. Upon completing my PGCE and gaining Qualified Teacher Status. I found employment at a small village school in the Welsh countryside. There, over the next two years, I obtained my Newly Qualified Teacher status and developed my teaching practice further in a unique role which allowed me to work across the Year Groups, running small groups and one to one targeted Literacy and Numeracy interventions, leading whole class sessions when providing regular cover and support for class teachers, leading the provision of Outdoor Learning and designing the curriculum while leading the provision of the afternoon topic sessions for the school’s learning and support units. I love to spend most of my time outdoors and this is something I encourage and promote with my students at school. While in Wales, most of my outdoor time was spent hiking. Here in Brasilia I look forward to spending my time kayaking and learning to paddle board on the lake and enjoying the sun. I love music and collecting old vinyls for my record player and can even play the guitar. I love books and reading and over the next few years I hope to improve my Portuguese and assimilate deeper into the rich and beautiful Brazilian culture.
