In November, our EYFS parents enjoyed an interactive parent workshop introducing them to our physical development programmes; Squiggle Whilst You Wiggle and Dough Disco. Miss. McCallum and Miss. Gibson demonstrated how we prepare children for mark making and early Literacy skills through our engaging and musical movement activities. Squiggle Whilst You Wiggle is a kinaesthetic approach to stimulate early writing. Through Squiggle Whilst You Wiggle, children begin using 'Flipper Flappers' to rehearse a range of shapes, which lead to children mark-making with chunky pens and paintbrushes in preparation for more formal writing. 'Dough Disco' is a fun activity that combines the use of play dough with a series of hand and finger exercises designed to improve fine muscle control. The movements develop children's fine and gross motor dexterity, hand-eye coordination and self-esteem.  Following on from our workshop parents were given the opportunity to observe a Physical Development lesson in their child’s class during our Learn Together Days. Many thanks to all the parents who attended and danced along with us!
