Learning from those in the community

As part of the topic on 'People who help us' some professional volunteers came in to speak to our nursery and pre-nursery students.

The children have been gaining an understanding of different jobs in the community and how they benefit their lives. In addition to the Fire Department (in a separate news article), we were also lucky enough to have volunteers from other professions who gave up their time to come into school to share their skills and knowledge. 

Special thanks to Dentist Ms Bandeira de Sa, who gave a fantastic presentation on dentistry, Radiologist Ms Kawano who showed the children all different kinds of medical equipment and Vet Ms Viera Rodrigues who brought in her pet dog. We were also lucky enough to have a visit from the local police department and the children were particularly excited to be able to press the sirens in the police car.
