Christmas 2021
What a fun few weeks we have had here in The British School of Brasilia (BSB) Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) in the lead up to the Christmas break. It was so wonderful to start the holiday adventure with all the children whereby we got to celebrate this special time of the year with our Christmas performance.
We were all buzzing with excitement as we practised our songs, dances and poems. The children learned their lines and played their instruments. Rehearsals were had and then the greatest moment arrived! Our parents came to join in our Christmas fun as they watched their children perform.
Reception told us a great reindeer poem. Nursery wowed us with their dancing and singing skills when performing ‘Santa Claus is Coming to Town’. Meanwhile, Pre-Nursery had their sleigh bells ready to play along to ‘Jingle Bells’. Finally, the whole of the EYFS came together to then wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!
Our little stars did an amazing job throughout the whole process and we are so proud of the performance they gave. This was truly a great way to share the Christmas spirit, by spending time with the people we love.
Then we had our 6th Christmas Fair on Saturday, 11th of December 2021. Every single House decorated classrooms from bottom to ceiling with Christmas-themed decorations around the school. The Primary and Secondary school choir prepared a short performance filled with traditional Christmas songs in which everyone including peers, teachers and staff, were able to participate in a sing-along moment, which everyone enjoyed. The food was exceptionally good, with the kitchen staff preparing sausages wrapped with bacon and fresh juices. It was not only the kitchen staff who prepared significantly delicious treats. Other houses such as the Normans, Romans and Vikings prepared an appetising handful of cupcakes and sweets. The activities were also very entertaining including sponge the teacher, beat the goalie, put a teacher in prison and many others.
The ending was utterly entertaining with the tradition of doing the 'raffle' with very outstanding and valuable prizes such as an Alexa, a tablet and a TV. Many left empty-handed, but others were content with the results by gaining something - except Mr Thomas who did not get any height...
