I have been teaching since 2008 in schools across London as an English Teacher and Literacy/SEN (Special Educational Needs) Teacher. I started teaching as an English Teacher and then moved into SEN. I was able to develop and understand the learning needs of individual students, which has helped my professional development a lot. Whilst teaching Literacy/SEN, I was a GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education) English Examiner for the Higher Tier paper for eight years. I loved keeping up to date with English teaching and examinations and it was a great insight for me to understand the exam process and criteria for students to achieve. Before Brasilia, I was an English teacher at an English Language School in Sao Carlos, Sao Paulo, and this was my first introduction to Brazil and I loved it. I was able to implement my English teaching strategies from England into lessons that were based on Content Language and Integrated Learning (CLIL). I have been teaching at The British School of Brasilia since 2021. A lot of my interests are connected to my love of English, so I always love to read. I particularly enjoy reading Christian fiction and books from my Church. I started a blog about Brazil and learning Portuguese, so I like to update that when I can and have moments of writing creatively. I love to write and express myself using the written language. I am fascinated by the Portuguese language, so I want to further develop my spoken Portuguese and become fluent. I have also started to enjoy painting with acrylics and although I am in the early stages, I find it very mindful and relaxing. I also love going for walks in nature and feel very blessed that I am able to do this in the beautiful country of Brazil.
