People Who Help Us

During the month of October, classes in Foundation Stage learned all about ‘People Who Help Us.’

As part of this topic we invited the Fire and Police services into our school to speak to us about what it is like to have these jobs and how they help in our community. Both sessions started with an informative question and answer session with the men and women of the departments sharing with us some information about their jobs.

Following on from this, all classes were able to see inside the police car and fire truck. We learnt about the different parts of these important vehicles, as well as getting to see and use some of the equipment like the hose and handcuffs.

The children asked some very sensible questions about what life is like as a firefighter and a police officer, which was valuable information as children begin to think about what they might like to be when they are older.
